Fifteen-year-old Chris Mills (Mark Paul Gosselaar) refuses to accept it when his estranged parents announce they intend to divorce, and promises his younger sister that he will not let it happen. In a bold move, Chris decides to sue his parents, and he turns to Archie Corelli (Alan Arkin, who co-wrote the script based on Barbara Dana's acclaimed young adult novel), an auto mechanic and licensed lawyer, to take his case. Now, time is running out for the idealistic and unorthodox Corelli to discover a legal precedent that will help Chris keep his family intact.
